So I read the three of these this weekend. (And pre-ordered part four). I have to say I did enjoy them insomuch as i can enjoy any comic. I just find the two-things-at-once nature of comics hard to concentrate on. Maybe I’m too single-tasking to get it, or maybe I’m just not terribly bright. Perhaps it’s a combination of the two. But I find my enjoyment somewhat marred by the need to read the captions and look at the panels and then try to take it all in as a whole. I find the same problem occurs when I try to watch sub-titled movies. Actually they are worse because with a comic you can take as much time as you like over each panel; with a movie the moment is gone while you’re reading the dialogue and you miss certain nuances on the screen from the actors.
Anyhoo…

The comics were enjoyable but once the first one was done (which is a retelling of the back-story section from Wizard And Glass) there is a slight drop in the quality. You become aware that you’re no longer reading King’s direct words. The story arc moves along fine, owing in part to King’s involvement. But the slight nuances (the word of the day) of the dialogue are slightly lost in these books. And, for me, the dialogue of places like Gilead and Calla Brin Sturges are one of the most enjoyable facets of the story.
But if you’re a tower-junkie, I’d still recommend it reading it. It is, after all, more of what we love!

Looks like they have put it back a week. I can’t tell you how my little face fell with disappointment as I saw this this morning.

Check his smooth moves out at about 1.30. I want to be this dude.

So I haven’t blogged about BBWs in a while so I thought I’d do so shamelessly now.

Here is a rather feisty one to enjoy. Enjoy.

I finally got around to buying thse. I hope to start reading them this weekend. The fourth story arc doesn’t come out in single volume till next year and also next year they are starting a new 30 edition arc. Sweet.

Proof positive that even MS dont bother checking their layouts in IE6 anymore. Ignore the couple of dark horizontal lines – that’s me patching together the screen images in a hurry. The rest of the mess is pure IE6.

This could be interesting…

“Pichai called this out as one of the most important things Google is doing with Chrome OS. “In Chrome OS, every application is a web application,” he said, answering questions about how the platform would work. “There are no conventional desktop applications. Users don’t have to install programs, manage updates, nothing … A computer should just work.”
The next bit will be controversial in some circles, though it shouldn’t be. “All data in Chrome OS is in the cloud,” Pichai continued. “We really want it to be easy for you, [the user,] to use the machine. We want all of personal computing to work [as do web applications, where you logon and get access to the services associated with your account]. If I lose my Chrome OS machine, I should be able to go buy a new machine, log in, and within a matter of seconds, get my favorite applications, and the necessary cached data back, including personalization, my background, everything should look similar. We want it to be possible for users to share machines and feel as if the machine belongs to them.” “

All applications and info cloud-based. Makes you wonder how fast that would allow the PC to be if it is little more than a terminal. More here.

However, what happens if the Cloud isn’t available? What happens if your connection is down? Kind of sucks that your PC is then virtually useless. But it’s going to be interesting to see how it works, nonetheless.

You know, I don’t give a monkies about football, I really don’t. I just don’t get the big deal. But this made even me angry:

This Man Is NOT Attractive

November 19, 2009

Here is the guy who covers for me when I am off work. At present he is here doing extra work and so I am subjected to him and his odour all day for two days a week. He has no personality whatsoever and speaks with the most nasal whine you’ve ever heard. He never had a thought he didn’t say and say and say out loud. He is the guy who gives us IT folk a bad (nerdy) name. He has so many little OCD-type ticks (including “scratching” the inside of his nostril before licking his finger!!) that I think I’m going to shoot him he twists or pulls up his pants (with his wrists!!)one more time!

But I could probably handle all of that if he’d just bathe!!!

If you Bing “new dark tower novel” my blog comes up as number one and two hits.

Tremble before me, for I am a GODDDDD!
